My Platform
For me, public service and advocacy for my fellow citizens, not special interests, ensures that public policy, tax dollars, and community services benefit the majority of people.
As your House District 22 Representative, I will prioritize the following:
Water Sovereignty & Equity
Water is life. Without water, our families and communities have no future. To conserve & protect the water to benefit our people, we must follow the science. Comprehensive water conservation comes from water-wise policies and investments. Like appropriating monies to and supporting our Soil & Water conservation districts, that can implement and maintain programs to support our agri-businesses while they earn a living and save our water in the long run.
Responsible Economic Development
We must be committed to investing in our communities. I will appropriate money and work to pass public policy that builds our economy responsibly and sustainably. An example would be an appropriation that invests in water-wise businesses such as mobile grocery units, that address food deserts in our rural communities. I am firmly against industries that exploit our communal poverty or hollow out our main street businesses and families..
Infrastructure & Roads
House District 22 needs someone who will fight to fix, maintain and advance our infrastructure. I commit to investing in the expansion of broadband internet systems, while increasing affordability and access. I will work to pass public policy that safe-guards our water, road and energy infrastructure in House District 22 and New Mexico. Further, I commit myself to improving the pay for the labor force in these departments throughout House District 22 and New Mexico.
Food Insecurity
I am running for New Mexico House District 22 as someone who sees the issues we face. Food insecurity and accessibility is an issue that our seniors and rural communities face throughout New Mexico. As a result I am committed to two things:
1. Partnering with local leaders to build coalitions and cooperatives that bring food to our rural communities.
2. Passing legislation that expand services and funding to our local communities to give access to our citizens.
Rural & Senior Healthcare
Rural New Mexico and our seniors face a sincere need for access to healthcare services and infrastructure. In House District 22, we have the opportunity to build coalitions of leaders to make such access a reality. As the Representative for New Mexico House District 22, I am committed to reaching out to our local, municipal & land grant leaders, as well as our communities, to bring life-saving services to our district.
Education
As a product of the education systems in New Mexico House District 22, I can say that we have some work to do. Our teachers deserve competitive pay, comprehensive benefits and a curriculum that works for our students.
In running for this position I am proud to have been endorsed by AFT (The American Federation of Teachers). This endorsement is a reflection of the organization, and its members’ support, as well as my commitment to improve our education systems.
