Augustine's Work Experience

I am proud to have worked in the New Mexico Legislature where I got to understand how policy is made, directly from the source. What made this experience so eductational was my ability to hear directly from legislators and staff about the intricacies of the state legislature. These positions also formed my fundamental understanding of how deliberative bodies work to solve problems and best techniques that our team can and should implement within the DPNM. This adds to why I know I am the best candidate for Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.

As the Executive Officer to the Bernalillo County Commission, I have been privileged to serve the people of Bernalillo County Commission District 5. Additionally, I have been afforded the opportunity to learn how to build systems that work, infrastructure that lasts and a system that enables our communities to access resources important to moving forward together. This experience has afforded me skills in managing multiple complex projects at once, how to aquire funds for projects within the district and how to ensure quality constituent services. It is because of these skills that I know I am the best candidate for Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.

While working for the Claunch-Pinto Soil and Water Conservation District, I got to see first hand how we protect our resources. I was part of a team that executed on thinning projects throughout central and north-central New Mexico, restored our watersheds and protected our resources. Throughout my time with the district I got to learn from professionals in the field. From this knowledge I am now better equiped to have real conversations about the issues facing New Mexicans and build a genuine connection with our communities. This is why I am confident that I am the best candidate for Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.

I am proud to have run to represent New Mexico House District 22 in the East Mountains, Torrance County and a small portion of the city of Albuquerque. Throughout this campaign one message was clear, I, Augustine Montoya, am a solutions forward and community first candidate. The race was tough and it taught me that we need a party that is present throughout the state and works to leave as few seats as possible uncontested. But in addition to running candidates also making sure that they have the resources and skills necessary to make a difference.
